Yulu Secures $93M to Deploy 200,000 E‑Bikes Amid India’s Quick‑Commerce Surge

The rapid rise of instant online shopping has accelerated the quick‑commerce model across India, prompting a scramble for innovative logistics solutions. One of the frontrunners, Yulu, announced a $93 million funding round last week, drawing interest from Singapore‑based investors and local venture capital firms alike.

Yulu’s roadmap aims to field 200,000 electric two‑wheelers within the next two years. Beyond speeding up conventional parcel deliveries, the fleet is designed to support emerging use cases such as cold‑chain transport, pharmaceutical distribution, and micro‑logistics inside congested city cores. The low operating costs and zero‑emission profile of e‑bikes align with goals to ease urban traffic and meet sustainability targets.

Currently operating a fleet of roughly 30,000 bikes, Yulu plans to double its numbers by the end of 2024 and reach the 200,000‑bike milestone by 2026. To achieve this, the company is rolling out upgraded battery packs, AI‑driven routing algorithms, and a cloud‑based fleet‑management platform. In parallel, it is launching driver training and maintenance programs to boost operational efficiency.

Investors highlighted that the quick‑commerce market is still in its infancy and that Yulu’s scalable infrastructure positions it for long‑term growth. The newly raised capital will fund not only fleet expansion but also research and development, marketing, and pilot projects in additional Indian cities. Widespread adoption of e‑bikes in major metros could transform urban logistics and set a precedent for similar models to spread across other Asian markets.
