X Deploys Grok AI to Combat Content Theft and Fake Engagement

Social networking service X has announced a series of upgrades aimed at curbing content theft across its platform. Leveraging its proprietary AI model, Grok, the company will now automatically scan posts—images, videos, and text—to identify whether they have been previously published elsewhere. When a match is found, the system flags the material and links it back to the original creator.

Beyond detection, X is restructuring its revenue flow to ensure that creators receive the money generated from their work. In cases where the AI confirms that a piece of content was copied without permission, any advertising or tip revenue associated with the infringing post will be redirected to the rightful owner. This move is intended to close the loophole that allowed third‑party accounts to profit from stolen material.

The platform is also tightening rules around “engagement bait”—posts that lure users into liking, commenting, or sharing through misleading headlines or calls to action. Grok AI will evaluate the language and structure of posts, flagging those that appear designed solely to manipulate metrics. Once identified, such content will be subject to reduced visibility or removal, in line with X’s community standards.

Company spokespeople emphasize that these measures protect both the creator community and the broader user base. By safeguarding intellectual property and discouraging deceptive tactics, X aims to foster a more trustworthy environment. The rollout is part of a longer‑term strategy to build a fair, transparent ecosystem where creators are fairly compensated and users can engage with authentic, high‑quality content.
