Not everyone is convinced by Elon Musk’s vision for orbital data centers. SoftBank’s CEO is among those questioning the practicality of this concept. Musk’s vision predicts that orbital data centers will form the technological infrastructure of the future. However, some experts are skeptical about the feasibility and cost-effectiveness of this idea. Orbital data centers would provide the opportunity to store and process data in space, far from the Earth’s surface. This could be a significant advantage for applications requiring large amounts of data and rapid data transfer. Nevertheless, establishing and maintaining such infrastructure could be extremely costly. Additionally, the suitability of space environments for data centers and potential technical issues are significant concerns. Realizing Elon Musk’s vision would require solving numerous technological and engineering problems. If successful, though, it could usher in a new era of technology.
