Google AI Mode Connects to Select Apps, Turning Queries into Actions

Google has taken its AI‑driven AI Mode a step further, evolving it from a simple question‑answering tool into a task‑execution platform that works inside the apps people use every day. The latest update lets AI Mode not only answer queries but also interact directly with Google services such as Gmail, Calendar, Drive, and Photos, as well as a handful of third‑party applications.

When composing an email or scheduling a meeting, users can now tell AI Mode to handle the entire workflow. Saying, “Schedule a meeting tomorrow at 10 am and invite the sales team,” will automatically create a calendar event, add the appropriate participants, and even send out the invitations. Likewise, requesting to share a photo album will prompt the AI to select the album, generate a shareable link, and deliver it through the chosen communication channel.

The inclusion of third‑party integrations is a notable leap. By linking a Spotify account, the AI can generate playlists on the fly; with Trello, it can create cards; and with Notion, it can update pages. These connections are limited to “selected” apps that have granted API access, ensuring that Google maintains strict privacy and security standards.

From a performance perspective, AI Mode now offers faster response times and lower latency for task execution. The interface supports both voice and text inputs simultaneously, enabling true multitasking on mobile devices, especially on the Pixel line where the feature has been fine‑tuned.

Google disclosed that the rollout began as a beta program for a small group of users and that a broader release is planned in the coming months. As more applications become compatible, the AI assistant is expected to streamline everyday workflows even further, turning natural language prompts into concrete actions across a growing ecosystem of services.
