Streaming ads are about to get a lot quieter. A new law in California, set to take effect on July 1, will target loud streaming ads and bring them in line with the same volume standards as TV and radio commercials. This means that streaming ads will no longer be able to blast users with sudden, ear-piercing sounds. Instead, they will be required to be at the same volume as the content they are accompanying. This change is expected to bring relief to users who have been annoyed by loud ads. The California law may also inspire similar regulations in other states and countries.
