Bloom raises $3.6M to become the ‘Alibaba’ of American manufacturing

Detroit‑based tech startup Bloom announced that it has closed a $3.6 million financing round aimed at turning the company into the “Alibaba of American manufacturing.” While the firm originally focused on mobility solutions, it is now widening its reach to serve drone, robotics and other high‑tech sectors that need reliable domestic production partners.

Bloom’s marketplace connects innovators with a curated network of U.S. factories, logistics providers, and fulfillment services. For many emerging drone and robotics companies, finding a suitable manufacturer that can meet strict quality standards and deliver on tight schedules is a major bottleneck. Bloom’s platform aggregates detailed capability data, compliance certifications, and real‑time capacity information, allowing product developers to match with the right supplier in minutes rather than weeks.

Co‑founder Emily Carter explained, “The United States has a deep manufacturing base, but the information about who can do what is fragmented. We are building a single digital hub where technology firms can instantly discover, evaluate, and contract with the right factories.”

The new capital comes from a mix of venture capital funds focused on industrial technology and strategic investors who see value in strengthening domestic supply chains. Bloom plans to invest the money in enhancing its AI‑driven recommendation engine, expanding the supplier database, and adding new features such as integrated quality‑assurance workflows and end‑to‑end shipping analytics.

Over the next year, Bloom aims to double its active user base and increase the number of listed manufacturers by 150 percent. By doing so, the company hopes to accelerate the shift toward more resilient, transparent, and locally sourced production across the United States.

Industry analysts view Bloom’s move as a significant step toward reshaping America’s manufacturing landscape, offering a scalable solution that could reduce dependence on overseas suppliers while fostering innovation in emerging tech fields.
